Detectives have launched a manhunt after an armed gang attacked Musanda Police Station in Mumias West, Kakamega County, killing one police officer and injuring two others.
The Friday night raid saw six assailants arrive on motorcycles, pretending to report a stolen motorbike before suddenly turning on officers inside the station. Gunfire erupted as the attackers overpowered police, fatally shooting a corporal. Two constables sustained serious injuries, while an officer’s wife was also hurt during the chaos.
The gang escaped with two G3 rifles loaded with ammunition. Police recovered crowbars at the scene as investigations and pursuit operations intensify.
