The European Union has imposed sanctions on 1,569 Russian companies and executives linked to the countryβs military-industrial complex, marking its largest single round of sanctions listings since the start of the full-scale war in Ukraine.
The measures target 826 companies and 743 chief executives, with more than half of the listings linked to the supply chain for ballistic missile production. The targeted businesses supply components used in missiles, drones and military aircraft.
In a separate decision, the EU sanctioned another 77 individuals involved in Russiaβs September 2026 State Duma elections in occupied Ukrainian territories.
The measures include asset freezes and restrictions on providing funds or economic resources to those listed, while sanctioned individuals are also subject to EU travel bans.
EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said the bloc would maintain pressure on Moscow. She also expressed support for a halt to attacks on energy infrastructure, provided both Russia and Ukraine comply.
