Auctioned by a friend: The story of Rufus is a classic case of kikulacho ki nguoni mwako

Auctioned by a friend: The story of Rufus is a classic case of kikulacho ki nguoni mwako. A few years back, Rufus lorry was involved in an accident which resulted in the death of an old man, The matter was reported to the police and the courts found the driver guilty of the offence.

Rufus and family thought the matter was settled. Fast forward, Rufus friend, Kamoni had travelled to Congo in such of gold but found trouble. He struggled in Congo but decided it was not worth it and came back to Kenya . Upon arrival, Kamoni ran into the arms of his long time Rufus and asked for his help. Rufus held his hand and for a few years assisted him until he got back to his feet. Meanwhile , Kamoni watched as Rufus business grew unbeknown to Rufus that his friend was planning for his downfall.

From the blues, Rufus woke up one morning and found a decree from court ordering him to pay 2.5 million to the Kamoni family plus a fee of 700k to his lawyer. Rufus in agreement with his family took a loan using their land as collateral and with the money, paid his lawyer the fee and gave his long time friend Kamoni 1 million upon agreement that he would continue to pay off the remaining balance small small.

With this arrangement, Rufus went back to work only to be slapped with court orders seizing his two lorries valued at 8 million citing default of the earlier agreement. With nothing that could bring an income, Rufus struggled to pay only to be told that one of his lorries had been sold. He went back to Chado auctioneers in Thika with the hope that since the lorry was worth more than what he owed, they would give him the balance and also give him back the other lorry but he was in for a rude shock.

Upon Inquiry, he was told that both of his lorries had been sold na akuwe mpole. Rufus asked his friend Kamoni why he was doing this to him but Kamoni told him that it was not his doing but the auctioneers and his hands were tied. Kamoni upon receiving payment went back to Congo to pursue his dream of acquiring more gold. Rufus gathered his family and hence the drama we witnessed yesterday as they confronted Chado auctioneers demanding an explanation of what happened.

Up to now, nothing is forthcoming, no money and no lorries. Where is the justice here. Who gave the orders for the lorries to be auctioned? Who will help Rufus get justice?
