Mob Justice In Kisumu: Suspect Dragged From Hospital And Killed By Angry Crowd

Residents of Kabanyo/Kanyagwal Ward in Nyangande Market, located in Kisumu County, lynched a suspected criminal after storming a hospital where he had been taken for treatment following an earlier beating.

According to reports, the suspect had initially been captured by residents who accused him of criminal activities in the area. The crowd severely assaulted him before police officers arrived, rescued him, and rushed him to hospital for medical treatment.

However, the angry residents later regrouped and followed the suspect to the hospital. They reportedly overpowered the police officers who had been guarding him and forced their way into the ward where he was receiving treatment.

Witnesses say the crowd ordered medics to step aside before confronting the suspect, demanding to know why he should be treated only to allegedly return to committing crimes. When he failed to respond, the mob removed his medical drips and bandages, dragged him out of the hospital, and continued assaulting him.

The suspect died during the attack.

After the incident, the mob reportedly took the body back to the hospital, where it was later placed in the morgue as authorities began investigations into the incident.

Police are expected to launch investigations into the killing and the circumstances that led to the mob storming the hospital.
