Living alone can seem enjoyable until the day you fall ill and find yourself with no one nearby to help. This deeply saddens me, especially knowing that many of us live by ourselves and often don’t see it as a problem.

Vivian Ntinyari was a second-year student at Meru University pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Kiswahili and History. Yesterday, she was found dead inside her room at Neema Apartments in Meru.

According to reports, Vivian had been unwell and was alone in the house. Her mother kept calling her, but she wasn’t answering. Worried, the mother raised the alarm.

The landlord, together with other students, then broke into the apartment. Sadly, they found Vivian already dead, with her medication still nearby.

This story gives me chills because I, too, enjoy living alone. It makes you wonder: what if something happens to you while you’re by yourself, and no one knows what you’re going through?

Imagine if someone had checked on her earlier—things might have turned out differently. Life is unpredictable. Please make it a habit to check on your friends, your family, and even those people who prefer staying alone.
