Politics In Kenya Is Never Boring, And This Week, The Tea Is Piping Hot

So here’s the latest episode in what feels like a political telenovela:

Nairobi MP Esther Passaris has come out swinging at none other than Edwin Sifuna, and let’s just say… she did not come to whisper. She brought a megaphone.

According to Passaris, Sifuna’s time as Secretary-General of Orange Democratic Movement was less “smooth operator” and more “keyboard warrior with WiFi on full signal.” She’s accusing him of serving vibes instead of discipline, claiming his leadership style allegedly undermined party structures and occasionally treated party unity like it was optional homework.

And wait, there’s more.

Passaris says there were moments when the party’s captain himself, Raila Odinga, had to personally step in. Yes. Personally. As in, not “tell someone to tell someone,” but direct “my son, please relax” energy. Apparently, Raila reached out several times urging Sifuna to tone down his public posture for the sake of party unity.

Imagine Baba making the call like:

“Hello Sifuna, it’s me again. Can we reduce the heat from 100 to maybe 60? Just small small?”

But according to Passaris, the thermostat remained… enthusiastic. 🌡️

She paints a picture of a Secretary-General who sometimes operated like he had unlimited data bundles and zero mute button. The concern? That the bold, chest-out style may have weakened party discipline and left some structures wobbling like a three-legged stool at a nyama choma joint.

Now, whether you see Sifuna as fearless truth-teller or certified political firecracker depends on which side of the WhatsApp group you’re in. But one thing is clear, this isn’t your average “we wish him well in his future endeavors” kind of statement. This is political shade with SPF 50.

And Kenyans? We are here for the plot twists.

Because in our politics, even internal party meetings sound like season finales.

What do you think, good people?
Is it healthy accountability?
Or is this just premium-grade political drama served fresh before election season reheats everything?
