The Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) is in turmoil just days before the Africa Cup of Nations as a bitter power struggle unfolds between FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto’o and coach Marc Brys.
Despite Brys being under contract until 2026, Eto’o told him his role was over. The dispute led Cameroon to name two AFCON squads. Eto’o’s camp released a 28-man list on December 1, appointing David Pagou as coach and omitting stars Andre Onana, Eric Choupo-Moting, and captain Vincent Aboubakar.
Reports suggest Aboubakar was dropped to prevent him from breaking Eto’o’s national scoring record. Brys responded by naming his own squad, restoring the omitted players, and questioning how Cameroon could compete without key players in Morocco.
