Latvia Faces Major Gender Imbalance as Women Outnumber Men by More Than 80,000

Latvia is grappling with one of Europe’s most unusual demographic gaps, where women outnumber men by more than 80,000, a divide shaped by decades of emigration, health disparities, and post-Soviet population shifts that were never corrected.
