BREAKING: Emirates Boeing 747 cargo jet slides off runway in Hong Kong — fears of fatalities

A serious incident this morning at Hong Kong International Airport involved an Emirates SkyCargo Boeing 747-400 (flight EK9788) arriving from Dubai (DWC).

During landing on runway 07R, the aircraft veered left, struck a ground-service vehicle, and came to rest with its nose over the seawall, partly over the water.

💬 All four crew escaped unharmed, but two ground staff in the vehicle remain missing, feared trapped or swept into the sea.

Rescue teams with boats and helicopters are searching the area, while the north runway is closed.

📡 Flightradar24 data shows the jet’s path suddenly shifted left after touchdown. A Cathay Pacific flight (CX851) following behind aborted its approach.

The aircraft, Boeing 747-481BDSF TC-ACF, is operated by Turkish carrier Air ACT for Emirates, built in 1993 and powered by GE CF6-80C2 engines.

Authorities are investigating the cause of the runway excursion as rescue efforts continue.
