Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu has failed in his bid to secure release after the Court of Appeal declined to vary his bond terms requiring a Ksh53 million bank guarantee.
Waititu, who has been unable to raise the guarantee, had asked the court to substitute it with a cash deposit, but Justice Lucy Njuguna rejected the application.
The ruling leaves Waititu stuck in custody unless he secures the Ksh53 million bank guarantee required by the court.
The court directs that main appeal be completed within 120 days.
