Prof. George Wajackoyah has come out strongly to defend Winnie Odinga, insisting that no one should stand against her and affirming his unwavering support for her political position.
Winnie Odinga’s growing influence within Kenya’s political landscape has continued to draw commentary and reactions across the country, and Wajackoyah’s remarks come at a moment when her role in shaping succession conversations has placed her at the center of national debate. His declaration set the tone for the day as he travelled to Kang’o ka Jaramogi, the revered burial site of the late Raila Odinga, a location deeply intertwined with the Odinga family’s political legacy.
During his visit accompanied by Roots Party secretary general Cecil Miller, Wajackoyah reflected on his long-standing relationship with the Odinga family. He recalled how their support extended back to his years in exile, offering him solidarity during some of his most difficult periods.
After quietly touring the historic grounds of Kang’o ka Jaramogi, Wajackoyah proceeded to Opoda Farm, where he was warmly received by Mama Ida Odinga. In her welcoming remarks, Mama Ida expressed deep appreciation for the Roots Party delegation and acknowledged their consistent loyalty to the Odinga family during moments of transition and remembrance.
The visit underscored the enduring ties between Kenya’s long-standing political families and highlighted how alliances continue to shape national discourse. For Wajackoyah, the day served as both a tribute to Raila Odinga’s legacy and a reaffirmation of friendship while his public defense of Winnie Odinga signaled a clear stance in the country’s evolving political conversation.
