What does this mean….
Germany has 400,000 open vacancies per year, and most are being filled by illegal immigrants. This is what the Current German Government decided to stop by turning to legal migration.
They have tightened the laws for illegal migrants, and identified several “Safe Countries” To source qualified labour.
Thanks to the aggressive actions by President William Ruto, Kenya was picked by the German Government to be the first Sub Saharan Africa country to join the German.
After exactly one year of signing the MoU when the German Chancellor came to State House to visit President Ruto, the two Governments have finally concluded the rigorous negotiations that open the doors for Kenyans to live and work in Germany.
As one of the stakeholders, I can assure you that it was extremely rigorous and detailed. Germans are perfectionists and do not play around with standards. It has taken 12 full months of back and forth.
Today Joachim Stamp, the Federal Republic of Germany Special Commissioner for Migration Agreements (Cabinet level official) announced the successful completion of the year long process. He was with Labour PS Shadrach Mwadime and Diaspora PS Rose Njogu.
After two days of signing several mini agreements that cover various aspects of migration and settlement, language levels, training and housing, university and technical education collaboration, visa processing and scholarships among many other things.
As required by the laws of both countries, the Labour Migration Agreement will be deposited with both the Kenyan and German Parliaments for adoption.
Kenya now becomes the second African Country to have a tailor made Labour and Mobility Agreement with Germany. Second after Morocco.

Implications?
As long as you can speak German to level B1 or B2 on specific jobs, and you hold a Kenyan Passport, you can now easily join the German Labour market… Simple!!
And due to the Ausbildung (Apprenticeship) system, all you need is KCSE certificate of C- and B1 or B2. And you join the Apprenticeship system.
Those with IT certificates and special skills like coding and programming are highly sought after in direct jobs. Nurses, Hotel workers, plumbers, mechanics, electricians and many other vocations are highly in demand.
In short, if 30,000 Kenyans meet the language level, they will get jobs.
For accountability, the public universities will play a major role in the human capacity development.
In short, President Ruto has found jobs for you… Instead of being paid 15k na Muhindi, Rais Mchapa Kazi ame pata kazi ya minimum 2,000 us dollars per month.. In a country that everyone wants to go to.
