Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi says 354 Kenyans are serving in the Russian Army, with 77 on the frontline, 84 missing in action and five being held as prisoners of war. Additionally, 62 have been repatriated, while 34 are hospitalised and 52 remain missing.
Mudavadi says Kenya has secured a stop list with Russia to prevent further recruitment of Kenyans, with no new enlistments reported since its implementation.
He says no additional Kenyans have been recruited into the Russian Army since Kenya secured a stop list during his March 2026 visit to Moscow.
The CS adds that requests to terminate military contracts are considered on a case-by-case basis, while the government continues efforts to repatriate or facilitate the burial of deceased Kenyans
