Iran plans to sell commercial vessels linked to the United States and Israel that were seized during the war in the Strait of Hormuz and the Gulf, with the proceeds intended to compensate families affected by the conflict.

Hassan Abdollianpour, an Iranian judicial official, said the vessels had been seized under judicial rulings and would be sold after authorities assess the damage caused by the war.

Iranian authorities said the proceeds from the sales would be directed to individuals and families affected by the conflict.

The announcement marks a further escalation in Iran’s economic and legal retaliation against US- and Israel-linked commercial interests amid continuing tensions around the Strait of Hormuz.
