Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of Russia’s Security Council and former Russian president, criticized Gulf Arab states for allowing U.S. military bases on their territory.

He stated that many countries in the Persian Gulf believe those bases will protect them, β€œbut that is not the case.” Medvedev argued that the United States only uses such bases to protect one specific country, warning that they may represent a threat rather than protection.
