Burkina Faso news has officially confirmed that the United States of Africa are showing interest to Normalize it’s Relations with The Alliance of Sahel States. (AES)
The United States is moving to normalize relations with Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger. The three West African nations that have severed long-standing ties with Western powers and expelled French military forces in recent years.
The three countries, all led by military governments have formed a mutual defense and economic alliance known as the Alliance of Sahel States (AES) and have increasingly aligned themselves with Russia, both politically and militarily.
Their strategic importance is informed by abundant natural wealth, including gold, uranium, and other rare-earth minerals.
The US State Departmentโs Bureau of African Affairs disclosed that Senior Bureau Official Nick Checker is traveling to Bamako, Mali, to initiate diplomatic talks.
Senior Bureau Official Nick Checker is traveling to Bamako to convey the United Statesโ respect for the Sahel sovereignty and desire to chart a new course in the bilateral relationship and move past policy missteps, the state department said.
The United States looks forward to discussing next steps for enhancing US-Mali cooperation and consulting with other governments in the region, including Burkina Faso and Niger, on shared security and economic interests.
The move suggest the US is seeking to re-engage not only to counterbalance growing Russian and Wagner Group influence but also to protect its economic and security interests in the mineral-rich Sahel.
This came few days after Burkina Faso 37yr old Military president Captain Ibrahim Traore confirmed his DEAL with Vladimir Putin for a nuclear plant in the Sahel territory.
