What was supposed to be a proud and joyful graduation day in Kisumu nearly turned into a full-blown public scandal after a woman found herself trapped between her past and present love life, all at the school gate.
According to the woman, identified as Achieng, her daughter’s graduation ceremony became one of the most stressful days of her life when both her ex-partner (the baby daddy) and her current boyfriend showed up unexpectedly, each believing he was the only man supporting her and the child.
For years, the baby daddy had continued to pay school fees and assist financially, even after the relationship ended. At the same time, Achieng’s current boyfriend had also stepped in to help, fully convinced that the father of the child was no longer involved.
The problem? Neither man knew about the other.
On the morning of the graduation, both men sent congratulatory messages and money. Everything seemed normal — until the current boyfriend arrived first and announced he was already at the venue. Moments later, the baby daddy called to say he was also at the school gate.
Desperate to avoid an awkward , or violent or confrontation, Achieng began a tense game of cat and mouse. She moved around the school compound, sent relatives to delay one man while she attended to the other, and kept inventing excuses to stop them from crossing paths.
By what she later described as “pure luck,” the two men never met.
Looking back, Achieng admitted the experience drained her emotionally and left her shaken. What should have been a proud milestone for her daughter turned into hours of anxiety, fear, and mental exhaustion.
The incident has since sparked heated debate online, with many questioning honesty in relationships, shared responsibility in parenting, and the emotional cost of living double lives.
One lesson stands out clearly from the Kisumu graduation drama: the truth has a way of showing up , sometimes at the worst possible moment.
