Zimbabwean UFC f!ghter Themba Gorimbo has dis0wned his family”
“I don’t speak to my family anymore. I cut everyone off—deleted numbers, blocked everyone. I still love my family, but from a distance. If I keep talking to them, I won’t achieve my goals.
If I d!e, I don’t need to be buried in my village.
They believe my success is their success—that they’re entitled to it. My family feels entitled, and that mindset is common in Africa.
We’re emotionally blackmailed into thinking we can’t say no. Black tax is real in Africa, and we’re taught that we can’t refuse when someone asks us for money.”
