Fresh details have revealed that the two suspected robbers shot dead along Moi Avenue were part of a gang of five who had attacked a man after he withdrew cash from a bank.
The victim, an official with Embassava Matatu Sacco, had withdrawn the money for office use and was walking near Kenneth Matiba Road when the gang struck, seizing his cash and mobile phone.
Plainclothes police on patrol pursued the suspects, fatally shooting two while three others escaped, one reportedly wounded.
Officers deployed teargas to disperse onlookers before moving the bodies to the mortuary, and investigations are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects.
Detectives say the gang has been linked to similar robberies in the area, including an earlier November 13 incident where another man was attacked after leaving Equity Bank, suggesting possible collusion by insiders handling cash in banks and offices.
