FIFA has approved new rule changes to make the game faster and reduce time wasting.

Key changes:

1️⃣ Substitutions:
Substituted players must leave the pitch within 10 seconds. If they take longer, the replacement player will have to wait 1 minute before entering.

2️⃣ Throw-ins & Goal Kicks:
Teams will have 5 seconds to take a throw-in or goal kick. If they don’t restart play in time, possession goes to the opponent.

3️⃣ Injury Treatment:
Players who receive treatment on the pitch must leave the field and can only return after 1 minute once play restarts.

4️⃣ VAR Reviews:
VAR will now be allowed to review 2nd yellow cards and corner decisions if there is a clear mistake.

These new rules will be introduced at the #WorldCup2026.
