Thika Municipality is one step closer to becoming Kenya’s newest city as the Senate begins reviewing its application for elevation. The Senate Standing Committee on Devolution and Intergovernmental Relations has invited the public to submit written views by March 9 and will hold a public hearing on March 6 at the Thika Municipal Chambers.
Residents, business leaders, and civil society groups can present their opinions during the session. With a population exceeding 250,000, a strong industrial base, and strategic location, Thika meets key statutory benchmarks, and city status could unlock significant investment and development opportunities.
