Police have explained the presence of security personnel at the home of the NUP president, Robert Kyagulanyi, saying the government has put in place measures to protect his home and property.
Police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma said Kyagulanyi has been mobilising some Ugandans based on his plans, and that deploying security officers at his residence is not meant to put him in danger, but rather to prevent possible violence following his rejection of the presidential election results announced on January 15, 2026.
Rusoke added that security agencies are aware of plans by some individuals to cause unrest and incite violence, and that measures have been put in place to ensure public safety while maintaining security around Kyagulanyi.
