Eulogy For Beryl Odinga By Paul Ambala, Grandson Of Otieno Ambala

Today, here at Kang’o Ka Jaramogi, a homestead of history, wisdom, and the footsteps of many great lives, we gather to celebrate and honour Beryl Odinga a woman whose presence left a quiet but meaningful mark on all who knew her.

Beryl Odinga became part of our family through her union with my grandfather, Otieno Ambala, in a chapter of life marked by youthful hope, deep connection, and the promise of shared futures. Even as time carried each person into their own direction, what remained was mutual respect and a human bond that time could not erase. Today, we stand not to examine old paths, but to acknowledge a life lived with grace, dignity, and humanity.

Beryl was a woman who understood the power of gentleness. She carried herself with a calm spirit, a warm heart, and the quiet resilience that defined a generation of strong Luo women women who built families, held communities together, and kept peace even where there was none. Her life reminds us that not all strength is loud; some strength is soft, steady, and deeply rooted.

To those close to her, she was a companion, a friend, a sister, and a steady presence. To the younger ones who heard stories of her, she is remembered as a symbol of humility, respect, and the quiet pride of our people.
As we lay her to rest today, we honour these qualities and the beautiful legacy they leave behind.

Beryl, daughter of heritage,
Your spirit was gentle and good,
A gold that did not boast,
Leaving us with honour to hold.
Go well to the circle of ancestors,
As we remain here,
Carrying your memory with love.

FAMILY MESSAGE OF GRATITUDE
On behalf of the Ambala family, we express our sincere gratitude to everyone who has joined us today neighbours, relatives, friends, and the wider community. Your presence, prayers, songs, and words of comfort have strengthened us during this moment of farewell.

We thank the Odinga family for their openness and partnership as we honour Beryl in the manner she deserves. We thank the clergy, elders, and all who offered support in preparing this final journey.
Beril, rest well.
Dhi maber, minwa.
Rest in eternal peace.
