Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu is set to walk out of Kamiti Maximum Prison after securing a KSh 53 million bank guarantee.
Waititu has been behind bars since his February conviction in a KSh 588 million graft case, where he was sentenced to 12 years in prison or an alternative fine of KSh 52.5 million.
Once the Sh53 million is paid, he can stay free while his earlier bond conditions in the hate speech case remain active. The prosecution is ready to proceed, with the next hearing scheduled for January 15, 2026.
