The deputy president Rigathi Gachagua today on 1st October 2023 received a warm reception from children of Mathira who were waiting him. According to his post which he shared on the social media platforms, the deputy president Rigathi Gachagua revealed that he was excited with the reception from his neighbors.

And what a better way to end a weekend than to spend an exciting evening with wonderful little people!

On arrival at my rural home in Mathira, Nyeri County, this evening, I was elated to receive a most hearty welcome from my neighbours’ loving and charming children.

“I gladly invited them to the house; we had a great time telling each other stories. It was so much fun as they fell over themselves to narrate to me their best folk stories. I had to also narrate the folk stories that I could remember as rendered by my grandmother – more than 50 years ago!

It was fulfilling listening to the sharp champions sharing moral lessons with each other, besides core community values encapsulated in the tales.

We also had a moment singing inspiring songs together with the little ones, amidst the story telling.

Eventually, we shared a light meal before they left for their homes, to allow me time for a tete a tete with my age mates.
But not before the smart chaps promised to nurture and take care of the environment by planting trees.

Being home-at the edge of the Mount Kenya Forest, from where I watch the Mountain at close range- is not only Therapeutic, but also very Nostalgic.

It Inspires and Motivates me as I kick-off a new week of rebuilding our Nation.”
