UPDATE: The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has wrapped up its nationwide public participation exercise on the proposed review of conservation fees regulations, concluding with a final forum at KICC, Nairobi.
The Nairobi Forum marked the 20th and final stop in a nationwide series, bringing together tourism industry reps, conservation experts, youth, and govt officials. Over 2 weeks, forums reached 19 other counties uniting voices for a shared future.

KWS Director General Prof. Erustus Kanga thanked stakeholders for their strong engagement and support in reviewing the Wildlife Conservation and Management (Access and Conservation Fees) Regulations, 2025.
Kanga said across 20 forums, participants have backed the long-overdue fee adjustment, citing KWSβs resource constraints and the need to bridge a KES 12 billion annual funding gap.

The Feedback from public forums and written submissions will inform the second draft of the regulations, which will undergo further validation before submission to Parliament.
