UNDERSTANDING FERTILIZERS : DAP, CAN, and NPK

DAP (Diammonium Phosphate):

• High in phosphorus (46% P2O5) and nitrogen (18% N)
• Best for root development and flowering
• Apply at planting or early growth stage

CAN (Calcium Ammonium Nitrate):

• Provides nitrogen (20-30% N) and calcium (10-20% Ca)
• Suitable for top dressing, especially for crops needing calcium
• Apply when crop needs nitrogen boost

NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium):

• Balanced fertilizer with N, P, and K
• General-purpose fertilizer for overall plant growth
• Apply at planting or during growth stage

When to apply:

• DAP: At planting (basal application)
• CAN: Top dressing (4-6 weeks after planting)
• NPK: At planting or during growth stage (depending on crop needs)
