UNDERSTANDING FERTILIZERS : DAP, CAN, and NPK
DAP (Diammonium Phosphate):
- High in phosphorus (46% P2O5) and nitrogen (18% N)
- Best for root development and flowering
- Apply at planting or early growth stage
CAN (Calcium Ammonium Nitrate):
- Provides nitrogen (20-30% N) and calcium (10-20% Ca)
- Suitable for top dressing, especially for crops needing calcium
- Apply when crop needs nitrogen boost
NPK (Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium):
- Balanced fertilizer with N, P, and K
- General-purpose fertilizer for overall plant growth
- Apply at planting or during growth stage
When to apply:
- DAP: At planting (basal application)
- CAN: Top dressing (4-6 weeks after planting)
- NPK: At planting or during growth stage (depending on crop needs)
