Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba has warned school principals against obstructing the full transition of Grade 10 learners, cautioning that those who fail to admit students risk losing their jobs. Speaking in Kisii on Sunday, January 26, Ogamba directed school heads to ensure all Grade 10 students are settled in their classes by Friday, January 30, regardless of whether they have school fees or uniforms.

So far, 92% of learners have reported to schools, with the government intensifying efforts to reach the remaining 8%. Any teacher denying admission due to unpaid fees or lack of uniforms will face consequences, Ogamba emphasized.

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and President William Ruto have echoed these calls, stressing that all students must attend school, even in their Junior Secondary School uniforms if necessary. The government is also rolling out bursaries, scholarships, and community support to ensure no learner is left behind.
