A traffic officer in Murang’a County has been arrested by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for allegedly collecting Ksh 6,450 in bribes within just two hours. The arrest comes after multiple public complaints about rampant bribery by traffic officers.
The officer, attached to the Murang’a traffic base, was apprehended along the Kenol-Murang’a Road. The recovered cash included Ksh 50, 100, and 200 notes.
Following his arrest, the officer was taken to the EACC Central Regional Offices for processing and later booked at Nyeri Police Station, where he was released on cash bail. The commission has pledged to continue targeting corrupt practices among traffic officials to enhance accountability and restore public trust.
