37.7 million registered voters are due to cast their ballots in the Tanzania’s general election.
Incumbent President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who faces her first presidential election, became the East African nation’s first female head of state after the death in 2021 of sitting President John Magufuli.
While the electoral commission has cleared 17 presidential candidates to stand this time, candidates from the two main opposition parties have been disqualified.
