Mjengo Workers in Kitengela Go Home Without Salary After Foreman Was Robbed Sh307,000 Minutes After Withdrawing from Local Bank
Over 15 construction workers in Kitengela were left without their hard-earned wages after their foreman was robbed of Sh307,000 shortly after withdrawing the money from a local bank.
The incident, which occurred on May 3, 2025, involved a well-coordinated robbery targeting the foreman, who was overseeing a construction project in the Kimalati area.
According to police reports, the foreman had visited Diamond Trust Bank’s Kitengela Branch earlier that day and withdrew the funds meant to pay workers who had labored throughout the week.
After completing the transaction, he proceeded to his vehicle and began driving toward the site.
Along the way, he was flagged down by two men dressed in traffic police uniforms who accused him of violating traffic rules.
Believing the men to be legitimate officers, the foreman complied when they insisted he accompany them to a nearby police station.
One of the men, along with a civilian who was nearby, entered his vehicle.
As they drove off, another vehicle that had been parked at a distance began to follow them. Moments later, the situation escalated when the suspects turned on the foreman, overpowered him, and commandeered the vehicle.
The gang drove with the victim for nearly 50 kilometers, eventually abandoning him along Old Kiambu Road.
They fled with the cash and the car keys, leaving the foreman injured and stranded.
He later managed to reach Muthaiga Police Station, where he filed a report. Detectives from Muthaiga and Kitengela have since launched investigations to track down the culprits.
