Michael Chilufya Sata Hospital in Mpika has completed the installation of a solar-backed power system at a cost of K750,000, funded partially through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Mpika Member of Parliament Francis Robert Kapyanga has announced the project’s successful completion on his Facebook account.
The solar power system provides a reliable and sustainable energy source, reducing dependence on grid power and minimizing disruptions to critical medical services.
When contacted by Chete FM News, Kapyanga revealed that the project was prioritized due to worsening load-shedding, diverting funds from other 2023 and 2024 projects to ensure uninterrupted power at critical units like the mortuary.
He has expressed gratitude to stakeholders, including the council, central government, health officials, and contractors.
