U.S. Ambassador to Kenya, Meg Whitman, has announced her resignation, effective before the next U.S. administration; Chargé d’Affaires Marc Dillard to take charge of the embassy.

This comes after Kenyans called for her recall or resignation following Donald Trump’s win as the 47th president of US.

Whitman says she will depart Kenya full of gratitude for the opportunity to serve her country and for the friendship offered by the government and the people of the beautiful Republic of Kenya.
