Before Wicknell Chivayo, Zimbabwe already had Ginimbi.
Real name: Genius Kadungure.
This guy was only 36 when he died on 8 November 2020 after his Rolls-Royce Wraith crashed and caught fire on Borrowdale Road in Harare.
He was coming from a birthday party for his friend Moana. She died in the same accident, together with two other friends.
Ginimbi was young, loud, ridiculously wealthy and completely ungovernable.
Imagine Wicknell Chivayo’s money… then add a little more “I have arrived, and everybody must know” energy.
The man would allegedly pay South African DJs and celebrities to come to his mansion just to watch him have breakfast with his girlfriend.
Breakfast! 😭
Most of us invite people for nyama choma.
Ginimbi was like:
“Bring the DJ. Bring the celebrities. I’m having eggs at 9.” 😂
But here is where the story becomes seriously strange.
His sister Juliet, who inherited a large share of his estate, died in a bus accident on Ginimbi’s birthday in 2023.
His father, who had also inherited part of the estate, later died in a road accident.
His mother died of cancer.
One family. So many tragedies.
And then came the strangest part.
The massive Domboshava mansion was abandoned.
The Rolls-Royces, G-Wagons, Ferraris and Lamborghinis that once screamed “MONEY!” were left sitting in the backyard.
Basically, the cars went from:
“Look at me!”
to:
“Please… somebody start me.” 😭
It’s one of those stories that reminds you that money can buy you almost everything—except a guarantee that tomorrow will look anything like today.
Ginimbi’s story was flashy, chaotic and unbelievable.
But the ending?
That part is genuinely sad.
