A senior official in County Government of Siaya has been suspended after allegedly making defamatory remarks against James Orengo at a recent political rally.
In a letter dated February 25, the county suspended Information Management Officer Richard Omondi Odhiambo, popularly known as Makamu, over comments he made on February 21 during an Orange Democratic Movement rally.
Speaking at the party’s Linda Mwananchi event in Kisumu County, Odhiambo criticized Orengo’s leadership and accused him of undermining ODM’s political strength in Ugenya. He claimed the governor ignored repeated warnings that his actions were hurting the party’s support base.
The county termed the remarks derogatory and disrespectful, citing gross misconduct and insubordination. Authorities suspended him with immediate effect, ordered him to hand over county property, and directed him to submit a written explanation within seven days pending further disciplinary action.
