While being arrested, the suspect made a bold and unusual defense. He claimed that because he pays taxes, the police vehicle essentially “belongs to Kenyans,” including himself. In the widely shared footage, he argued that taxpayers fund government property and therefore he had a right to use the car, asking officers to show mercy on “a citizen who pays taxes.”
The incident sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some Kenyans finding humor in his reasoning while others criticized the logic and raised concerns about security at police stations. Authorities confirmed that the man was taken into custody and investigations undertaken to ascertain how he gained access to the vehicle and whether others were involved.
