TALKS HIT A WALL: Iran Refuses Key US Demands, US Says No Compromise On Nuclear Capability

The first round of nuclear negotiations between the United States and Iran concluded without progress on critical issues, revealing deep strategic divides just hours after both sides met in Muscat.

Iran’s Position:
Tehran flatly rejected Washington’s demand to halt uranium enrichment and to transfer or store nuclear material abroad. Iranian representatives underscored that enrichment on Iranian soil is a sovereign right, and non-negotiable, using their enriched stockpile as leverage.

US Stance:
Washington reiterated that any agreement leaving Iran with substantive nuclear capability is unacceptable. Officials emphasized continued pressure and insisted that sanctions relief must be tied to verifiable, irreversible limits on Iran’s program.

Neither side yielded. Tehran insisted on its terms, while Washington refused to relent. The talks ended in a stalemate, raising doubts about future negotiations and increasing the risk of further confrontation.
