Damaris Obiero says many Kenyans who overstay their visas in the U.S. instantly fall out of legal status and once they leave, the consequences are severe:
Overstay 180+ days โ 3-year ban
Overstay 1 year or more โ 10-year ban
“So itโs not that they donโt want to visit home many simply canโt. Leaving could mean they may never be allowed back into the U.S.” She said.
“Most choose to stay until they can adjust their status legally. Once their papers are in order, they can finally travel freely again.” She added.
“Before judging, understand the truth:
People arenโt hiding theyโre protecting their future.” She concluded.
