Former Botswana President Ian Khama has launched a scathing critique of leadership failures in Africa, calling Tanzania’s President Samia Suluhu Hassan “illegitimate” and accusing her of rigging the October 29 election and using force to suppress dissent. He was quoted by the Daily Nation saying: “I do not recognise the person who was inaugurated as the President of Tanzania.
She is an illegitimate president.” He also took aim at Cameroon’s President Paul Biya, who was recently sworn in at 92 years old. Khama condemned the broader trend of African leaders clinging to power through repression, election rigging, and intimidation of opposition figures. #DWAfrica
