Turkish Airlines Resumes Flights to Moi International Airport, Mombasa

Turkish Airlines today officially resumed operations to Moi International Airport (MIA), Mombasa, marking its return after a five-year hiatus and reaffirming confidence in Mombasa’s growing role as a key regional hub.

The Boeing 737 aircraft touched down at 0420 hours and was ceremoniously welcomed with a water cannon salute, symbolizing renewed air connectivity between Mombasa and Istanbul.

The flight was received by key dignitaries, including H.E. Subutay Yüksel, Ambassador of Turkey, Hon. Caleb Kositany, KAA Board Chairman, Mr. İbrahim Bulut, Country Manager, Turkish Airlines, Mr. Abraham Kipruto, KAA GM, Marketing & Business Development, Dr. Simon Peter, KAA GM Operations & Safety, Mr. Mohamed Osman Ali, CECM for Tourism, Culture & Trade, Mombasa, and Mr. Abel Gogo, KAA Regional Airport Manager, Coast Region.

Turkish Airlines will now operate three weekly flights , on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, with each flight offering 8 tons of belly cargo capacity, enhancing export and import opportunities for the coastal region.

This milestone aligns with the Government’s aviation modernization and expansion agenda under the Kenya Airports Authority (KAA), strengthening the role of Moi International Airport as a key enabler of trade, tourism, and investment.

Turkish Airlines joins Ethiopian Airlines, Flydubai, and Uganda Airlines as the international carriers with scheduled flights to and from Mombasa.
Additionally, MIA continues to welcome a vibrant mix of charter airlines, including:
Condor, Neos Air, Discover Airlines, Enter Air, Smartwings, TUI Fly, HiSky, and Electra Airlines, connecting Mombasa to key European leisure markets.
