Two Suspected Gangsters Shot Dead in Yala During Robbery Attempt

Yala, Siaya County — Two suspected gang members were fatally shot on Tuesday night, October 1, 2025, during an attempted robbery in Yala town.

The incident, which occurred at around 10 p.m., unfolded when a Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) officer on patrol responded to a robbery in progress at a local shop. According to police reports, the suspects attacked the officer with a metal rod, forcing him to open fire in self-defense.

The officer sustained injuries during the confrontation and was later admitted to the hospital for treatment.

One of the deceased suspects was identified as Charles Odhiambo Ojwang’, alias “Buda”, a man allegedly linked to a series of criminal activities in the area. The second suspect remains unidentified.

The bodies were taken to the Yala Sub-County Hospital mortuary as investigations into the incident.
