When I was younger, I hated going to the market with my mother. Like, how can someone tell you that something is worth N5,000 and you’ll price it down to N750? 😆
Whenever she did that, I would just give her some distance, as if we weren’t together, until she finished bargaining.
But as I started to grow and began going to the market myself, I realized that those market people are not always truthful.
Because tell me, why would the original price of something be N1,000, and you’ll tell me N5,000?
Well, I’ve now learned the trick. Let me teach you.
Whatever price they give you, divide it by 3 or 4 and start bargaining from there.
If they say N9,000, don’t be shy to offer N3,000. You’ll be shocked that, at the end of the day, you’ll buy it for N4,500.
And now, I’m no longer as shy as I used to be. If you don’t agree with my price, I’ll just walk out of your shop.
It’s not by force, na!
They won’t teach you this at school.
