DCI has officially taken over a probe into alleged misconduct by IPOA, after Nairobi Central Police Station OCS Samson Talaam filed a formal complaint.
At the heart of the issue is a mobile phone seized from Talaam during investigations into the death of teacher and blogger Albert Ojwang’.
The phone, which was handed over to IPOA along with its password, allegedly sent out text messages requesting money while still in IPOA’s custody.
This raised serious concerns about possible tampering or misuse of evidence.
The matter is set to be mentioned in court again on July 1, 2025, and the DCI is expected to submit a comprehensive report.
