UPDATE: Athlete collapses and dies at a hotel in Elgeyo Marakwet, days after securing Chinese sponsorship for international races.
The athlete Willy Chelewa aged 28, had taken black tea and rice before he collapsed and died.
Police are currently at the hotel investigating the incident and have collected samples of the meals he took before collapsing
Police boss, Mulinge says the hotel management reported the matter to the police, who rushed to the scene.
The athlete has been using the hotel room as his base as he trains with his colleagues in the area, which has many training camps.
