Police have recovered a private car allegedly used in the abduction of Juja MP George Koimburi and arrested its owner, identified as Cyrus Kieru Muhia, whom detectives say is a close ally of the MP, as investigations continue.
This comes hours after Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja dismissed Koimburi’s abduction claim as political theatrics, stating that police investigations found no evidence of a kidnapping at the site where the MP was reportedly found in a coffee farm.
According to Kanja, the caretaker of the farm, Moses Kariuki, denied witnessing any abduction, and inconsistencies emerged during the probe, including the fact that Koimburi was driven to hospital in his own vehicle by a known associate.
Five people have so far recorded statements but police say they have struggled to access the MP, who is currently receiving treatment at Karen Hospital.
