Protests broke out along Ngong Road near the Nairobi Funeral Home on Monday as activists demanded justice for Albert Ojwang, a popular influencer who died in police custody under unclear circumstances.
The demonstrators, many filming the protest on their phones, gathered at a roundabout near the morgue—formerly City Mortuary—chanting slogans and calling for President William Ruto to step down. They also demanded answers over what they described as a suspicious death.
Ojwang had been detained at Central Police Station over allegations of defaming Deputy Inspector General Eliud Lagat before his sudden death in custody.
