Over five families in Man’gunza’s Mwananchewu village, Choma district, have been displaced by heavy rains accompanied by strong winds.
During the ordeal, two children, aged between 7 and 10, sustained injuries after a violent storm blew off the roof of their house.
Confirming the development, Habweema Senior Village Headman, Peter Simuyuni, told Byta FM News that the storm started around 19:00 hours on Monday.
He has called on relevant authorities to send humanitarian aid to the displaced families.
Meanwhile, Man’gunza Ward Councilor, Miyoba Chiyumu, says he has already started engaging the office of Disaster Management and Mitigating Unit (DMMU) for support.
