Veteran opposition politician, Dr Kizza Besigye, and his aide, Hajj Obeid Lutale, arrive at the Makindye-based General Court Martial under tight security.
The duo is facing charges related to security offenses and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, following their abduction from Nairobi, Kenya, and subsequent return to Uganda in November.
Today, their long-awaited lead lawyer, Ms Martha Karua, is expected to attend, having been granted a temporary practicing certificate by the Law Council yesterday.
The police officers arrived in style to take the opposition Kizza Besigye to court. This has come when even media were allegedly blocked from filming him as he enters into the court.
The Kenyan lawyer Ms Martha Katua will be leading the bench to defend the opposition leader Kizza. Kizza was arrested in Nairobi Kenya by the alleged Ugandan police before being transported back to his country. Despite that, it is time for leaders to allow citizens to do what they want as long as they don’t endanger other people.
