Fire Sweeps Through Kitwe Teaching Hospital Kitchen

Equipment worth thousands of Kwacha have been destroyed after fire swept through the main kitchen at Kitwe Teaching Hospital in the early hours of today.

Brief facts of the matter are that, the fire is said to have been triggered by an electrical fault within the main building .

Some informers within the hospital who spoke on conditions of anonymity, bemoaned the lack of fire equipment to respond to emergencies despite the hospital being in close proximity with the fire brigade.

They have since called for the establishment of additional rapid response mechanisms to prevent unnecessary loss of lives and properties in an event of a disaster.
