The government has announced a 6% increase in the minimum wage, effective November 1, 2024:
—Unskilled employee: Sh7,997 per month
—Stockman, herdsman:Sh9,235 per month
—House servant or cook: Sh9,129 per month
—Farm foreman:Sh14,247 per month
—Farm clerk: Sh14,427 per month
—Senior foreman: Sh9,339 per month
—Farm artisan: Sh9,558 per month
—Tractor driver: Sh10,136 per month
—Combine harvester driver: Sh11,166 per month
—Lorry driver or car driver: Sh11,718 per month
This decision follows months of negotiations involving the government, trade unions, and employers.
